Bellevue is a city in Washington located in the Eastside region of King County, across Lake Washington from Seattle. Long known as a suburb or satellite city of Seattle, it is now categorized as an edge city or a boomburb with a population of more than 122,000. It is currently the second largest city center in Washington State. It is the high-tech and retail center of the Eastside, with more than 140,000 jobs and a skyline of gleaming high-rises. Recently, Bellevue was ranked as the 4th best place to live in America. The name "Bellevue" is French for "beautiful view". Many local communities in West Bellevue provide you with these amazing ‘beautiful views’ including, scenic vistas of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Seattle Skyline and serene Lake Washington. The Bellevue School District includes 16 elementary schools, 5 middle schools and 4 high schools. They have a staff of about 2,000 employees, including about 1,100 teachers. More than 265 Bellevue teachers are National Board-certified, more than any other district in the state.
